Vincent Busuttil was born in Malta, in December of the year of the Dragon,1964. His father, a warrant officer in the British Army, first involved Vincent in the Martial Arts by introducing him to Jujitsu as a child on the Army base. When Vincent’s father retired from his army career, Vincent’s family moved to Australia.

It was in Melbourne in 1982 that Vincent started studying Karate taught by Shihan Silvio Morelli. Vincent was a dedicated student, training in every class possible. He progressed rapidly and soon became an Uchi Deshi (live-in student). He completed the Uchi Dechi program and then earned his Black Belt in 1988.

Paul Veldman (Sensei)
Sensei Paul Veldman began his training in karate in 1984, and has been training in traditional karate since 1991. working as a Police Officer for 17 years. as well as teaching at Kando Martial Arts, Sensei Paul was a "train the trainer" in defensive tactics, firearms and conflict resolution. His policing backgound also included Seige and Hostage negotiation, Close Personal Protection, and being a trainer in Forced Building Entry. He has trained in kendo, grappling and kickboxing, and is a certified Philippine Combatives instructor, amongst other martial arts styles.

As the owner and Chief Instructor of Kando Marial Arts, Sensei Paul is proud of the family values and spirit of the club. With his wife Elle teaching along side, his daughter a junior black belt, and twin sons part of the Junior Karate Program, he is well aware of the physical and spiritual benefits karate can have for the whole family.

Combined Martial Arts Academy, (CMAA), the Gold Coasts leading Self-Defense Academy was established 30 years ago by a man with vision. Founder, Shihan Bill Wakefield had a dream and through his dedication to his sport, his passion to assist others and the strong support of his Family and friends, Bill opened his first club. He now operates a full time state of the art dojo in Queensland.

Mr Bill Wakefield is one of the pioneers in the Martial Arts industry with a wealth of more than 30 years of experience. He has been running 8 different schools at one point of time in his career and now runs this full time academy for the past 12 years. Mr Bill expertise lies in staff training, long term business planning, conducting programs at schools, and Mentoring.
