GRAHAM SLATERS CHINESE DIARIES
Graham Slater is presently in China following the K-Star competition and is involved in the closed door training sessions. He will be keeping a day by day account of his incredible experience right here!

Day 1
Think Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon or Jet Li's latest movie Fearless and every where you look you can imagine you are on one of those film sets. The mountains, valleys and water ways create a mystical esoteric feel that takes your mind to another place. Of course it will be different for everyone but nothing can discribe the true feelings you experience wallking and talking with the monks in the Shaolin Temple.

What is the Shaolin Temple? Can anyone discibe it in a few sentances, I think not. After 4 days here I am starting to get a feel of emence diversity of this place. I think in a few weeks I will be able to discribe in a way it truly deserves to be discribed.

Let me tell about my journey so far. I flew to Hong Kong and hung around the airport until i got my connecting flight to Zengchou in the Henan Province another 2 hour flight. I was fortunately picked up by the Shaolin Culture representatives or I would be truly lost. We travelled viturtually freeway all the way for around 2 hours to Deng Feng the home of Chinese Kung Fu.

Dream about Kung Fu every where and everyone practises and you start to get the idea it is kind of popular here. The township has 60,000+ students training 2-3 times per day. The Shaolin Temple has a number of schools with around 5,000 students. I guess you might expect the birth place of martial arts to be big but this is way bigger than I could ever imagine.
That's all for now I will keep you posted. Chairman China Chat

Day 2
So what are the K-Star competitors up to I hear you? Working their buts off. I guess it is not for the faint hearted.Getting up at 5.am training with the Monks, now get this, these guys get one Warrier Monk per two competitors, now i call that personal training. Around 7.am they get breakfast and then who knows what the day will bring them. Their schedule is different every day including rehearals for their joint performance, photo shoots, studying Chinese culture and sightseeing, not bad hey. I'm not going to tell what they do all in one paragraph i will give you a day by day account of their expereinces.

Well it has been very hard without my own laptop and internet connection to send the stories and guess what, three weeks has gone by and I'm back. I will just include these photos and the write the entire story shortly.
K-Star competition is and continues to amaze us all as it keeps on delivering the goods. Reg carpet treatment for the competitiors, airfare, accommodation, food, tours the lot and the tab picked up by the Shaolin Temple and Shenzhen Media Group.

Being taught by the Shaolin Monks outside the Temple. One Monk per two competitors thats personal training.
