Black Sash

Congratulations must go to the Recipients of this Black Sash Award, which acknowledges their contributions to the martial arts industry and their community.

This award came about from Graham Slater's involvement in the Shaolin Temple, Dengfeng, China, where the current Head Abbot Shi Yongxin endorsed these very special black sashes to be created and given to noteworthy people.

Shi Yongxin made a decision to open the first full time authentic Shaolin Kung Fu School in Australia (2007), with his Warrior Monks sent out to teach.  Graham Slater was chosen as one of the directors and principal instructor after working on a special TV Program called KStar.

This was made with the Shaolin Temple and Shenzen TV Channel  as a TV Series.

Graham had proved himself as an appropriate candidate for the position to run the school. He managed the day to day operations of the  facility including what was taught and the media / marketing.

During the period they established an exchange program, allowing Monks to teach in Australia and students to learn at the Temple in China.

Recipients stand alongside a small and well deserving group of people honoured for their contributions.
These awards are passed on in the spirit they were conceived, to
honourable people of high distinction.
